Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of computer-based COGNITIVE REHABILITATION on COGNITIVE deficits in elderly patients with Alzheimer's disease. Methods: This controlled study followed a pretest/post-test paradigm. Sixteen elderly nursing-home residents with Alzheimer's disease in Kerman were included based on the defined criteria.Subjects were assigned to two groups i.e. experimental and control. Participantswere submitted tobrief mental state questionnaire, physical examination, Wechsler Memory Test, Tower of London, Go-No Go and Bender Gestalt Tests. The COGNITIVE REHABILITATION program using neuro-training for 24 sessions over 8 weeks, 2-3 times a week and 1-hour per session was performed. Same set of results were obtained in an 8-week follow-up.Data were analyzed using repeated-measures multivariate analysis of variance. Results: According to our results, the experimental group who received computer-based COGNITIVE REHABILITATION intervention was found to have significantly less impairment as compared to the control group in terms of scores in mental state examination (h2=-0.94), Tower of London task (h2=-0.68), Go- No Go task (h2=-0.93), memory performance in Wechsler memory test (h2=-0.89) and Bender-Gestalt test (h2=-0.88). Results also showed that the intervention effects on all variables remained consistent upon follow-up.Conclusion: Our findings confirmed the influence of computer-based COGNITIVE REHABILITATION intervention to improve COGNITIVE function in elderly patients with mild Alzheimer's disease. Such INTERVENTIONS are therefore recommended in the applied neuro-COGNITIVE REHABILITATION setting.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of three therapeutic INTERVENTIONS, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), COGNITIVE REHABILITATION (CR), and motivational interviewing (MI), on COGNITIVE indices in male cannabis users. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 60 male participants aged 20-30, who were divided into three intervention groups (15 each) and one control group. COGNITIVE indices were assessed using the Forward and Backward Digit Span Task, N-Back Task, Stroop Test, Go/No-Go Task, Iowa Gambling Task, and Stop Signal Task. Results: The mean scores for correct responses and reaction times in the ACT, CR, MI, and control groups were 73.9 (763.9 ms), 70.9 (681.7 ms), 70.2 (770.0 ms), and 64.0 (794.2 ms), respectively. Presentation errors were recorded as 3.5, 3.6, 3.6, and 4.0, while deletion errors were 3.6, 3.8, 3.8, and 4.2. Decision-making scores were 1469.8, 1478.3, 1484.7, and 1508.5, whereas information processing speeds were 32.0, 29.0, 30.4, and 26.3. Although differences among INTERVENTIONS were not statistically significant at individual time points (P>0.05), longitudinal analysis indicated significant COGNITIVE improvements over time (P<0.0001). Conclusion: ACT emerged as the most effective intervention, highlighting its potential to ameliorate COGNITIVE impairments associated with chronic cannabis use. These findings underscore the necessity of targeted therapeutic strategies for cannabis users.

Abstract:

Context: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of movement problems that do not worsen over time. They cause physical disability mainly in areas of body movement. It is caused by damage to the motor control centers of developing brain. Management of a child with CP to optimize functional abilities, typically includes the input of many disciplines, including occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT) and orthotic treatment. The main aim of this review was to compare the effects of most common REHABILITATION intervention on CP.Evidence Acquisition: This systematic review was conducted on published papers that studied REHABILITATION INTERVENTIONS approaches for children with CP. A literature search was performed using PubMed, SCOPUS and Google Scholar on papers published from January 1990 to October 2014.Results: From 125 articles related to REHABILITATION INTERVENTIONS for children with Cerebral palsy, 36 articles met the inclusion criteria. Conclusions: The efficacy of REHABILITATION INTERVENTIONS for children with CP is still inconclusive. Functional ability and social participation should be the main outcome measures in evaluating REHABILITATION efficacy.

Abstract:

COGNITIVE REHABILITATION is a group of designed techniques that is for the promotion of COGNITIVE domains in people with disease or disability. COGNITIVE REHABILITATION therapy (CRT) is the science of restoring COGNITIVE processing and learning compensatory strategies and it affects the molecular and cellular recovery REHABILITATION by integration of behavioral and COGNITIVE changes. The promotion of REHABILITATION science of COGNITIVE neuroscience has made it a priority by the help of full range of effected interventional procedures. It has been able to achieve the desired goals in the chain of theoretical and experimental science on the basis of behavioral INTERVENTIONS which is made of neuroscience, COGNITIVE neuroscience, psychology, physiology, pharmacology, medical imaging, and other medical disciplines and achieved some success in compensatory and medical strategies after surgery. COGNITIVE impairment after brain surgery is huge health challenges beyond the common disorders associated with diseases. Our approach to CRT is on the assumption that treatment would be the most effective way when focusing on the COGNITIVE sub-systems after neurosurgery and these are also affected by other aspects of life as a patient emotions, nutrition, health, stress, and social performance. Intervention in the passive skills can lead to neuro-COGNITIVE REHABILITATION that includes designed experience on the basis of nerve and brain function and structure. A failure of COGNITIVE or brain processing during or after surgery is an abnormal result and these impairments are treated better with CRT. This method is on the basis of neuroplastisity, reorganization of damaged cortical through morphological and physiological responses of nerve reconstruction ways by techniques in neuro-COGNITIVE disorders due to illness, injury or disability, even in healthy individuals which are affected by environment, the complexity of stimulation, repeated tasks and motivation.
